1. Who we are
market.news (referred to in this policy as โwe,โ โus,โ or โthe siteโ) is an independent financial-news intelligence platform. For privacy questions, email [email protected].
2. What we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Email address โ when you subscribe to our newsletter or our Pro early-access waitlist.
- Name (optional) โ when provided with email signup.
- Email subject and body โ when you contact us via email.
- Community account details โ name, email, password (hashed), profile info you choose to add โ when you register on community.market.news (Discourse).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- IP address โ logged by Cloudflare for security and abuse prevention. Used to determine your country for content personalization (the country auto-detection feature).
- Browser user agent โ for compatibility detection and analytics.
- Pages viewed and timestamps โ basic web analytics.
- Referring URL โ used to track which AI assistants and search engines refer visitors to us (no personal data โ just the source domain).

2.3 Information from third parties
- Cloudflare โ derives your country from your IP and forwards it to us as a header (cf-ipcountry).
- Google Analytics 4 โ provides aggregated, anonymized traffic analytics.
3. How we use your information
- Newsletter: Sending the Morning Briefing and other product emails you have subscribed to.
- Personalization: Showing news for your country (cookie + IP geo).
- Analytics: Understanding aggregate visitor patterns. We never analyze individual visitor behavior.
- Security: Detecting and blocking abuse (Cloudflare WAF, rate limiting).
- Customer support: Responding to email contacts, corrections requests.
- Pro waitlist: Notifying early-access signups when Pro launches and providing locked launch pricing.
- Legal compliance: Where required to comply with applicable law.
We do not:
- Sell your personal information to third parties.
- Rent your email list to advertisers.
- Use your data to build profiles for ad targeting on other sites.
- Use facial recognition, biometric tracking, or similar invasive technologies.

5. Data sharing
We share data with the following processors who help us operate the site:
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) โ CDN, DDoS protection, IP-based geolocation.
- Mailgun (Sinch, USA) โ transactional and newsletter email delivery.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC, USA) โ anonymized analytics.
- Anthropic (USA) โ AI synthesis and quality review of news content (no personal data sent โ we only send public news article text).
- Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd, Lithuania) โ VPS hosting infrastructure (USA datacenter).
We do not share data with advertising networks, data brokers, or other third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Your rights

How to exercise your rights
Email [email protected] with your request and the email address associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days. For erasure requests, we will delete your data unless we are required to retain it for a specific purpose (e.g. legal obligation), in which case we will explain.
7. Data retention
- Newsletter subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe + 30 days for legal/audit purposes.
- Pro waitlist signups: retained until Pro launches + opted-out.
- Email correspondence: retained for 2 years for support/audit purposes.
- Analytics data: retained for 14 months (Google Analytics default).
- Server access logs: retained for 90 days.
- Community account: retained until you delete the account; posts may remain if other users have replied to them.
8. International transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States. If you access market.news from the EU, UK, India, or elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with our US-based processors where required.
9. Children's privacy
market.news is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures: HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, Cloudflare WAF, regular security updates, automated backups. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; please use a strong unique password for any market.news account.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices evolve. Material changes will be announced via the morning briefing newsletter and a notice at the top of this page for 30 days.
