POSCO FuturEM Signs ₩2.7T Six-Year LFP Cathode Supply Deal for North American ESS
POSCO FuturEM agreed to supply 190,000 tonnes of lithium iron phosphate cathode material worth approximately ₩2.7 trillion ($2 billion) to a domestic Korean battery manufacturer over 2027-2032, targeting North American energy storage system demand driven by AI data center grid requirements. The volume — approximately one-seventh of projected North American ESS market demand for that period — establishes POSCO FuturEM as a critical infrastructure supplier in the AI-powered energy transition. Formal contract signing is expected in Q3 2026 with the buyer identity (likely Samsung SDI or SK On) to be confirmed at that stage.
